Uniform

"We define brands for the future"

Uniform is a company that works with multiple brands, their aims is to succeed in solving the brands problem with their designs and keep them up to date with the new technologies etc. The brand is made up of three things :

- Creativity, there are around 70 people who work for Uniform in small creative teams.

- Behaviour, to have an impact and the want to have a insight to solve a problem.

- Technology, what is coming next?

They work with all different kinds of marketing/branding techniques. VR, AR, film, photo, packaging and product.

They have completed 485 projects, which has occurred because of how they work, using 'process' and 'principles'. The process is something you follow and is the platform for creativity, the principles are the reviews and critiques during the development of designs. What I found interesting about this lecture and the Uniform business was how they presented the clients with statements about where they think they are now and where they could go. I also thought it was useful to take onboard that the constant meet ups or workshops with clients is what creates the best designed pieces, getting into the depth of the clients business and what they do, and completely understanding the client is what Uniform is known for.

They work in a process of:

Problem --- Insight ---  Strategy --- creative

Which then helps them to communicate with people and engage the client, Mike said that he prefers the client to be on board and follow the process instead of having a big reveal at the end, this makes the client a lot more comfortable and helps them understand why Uniform have got to the conclusion they have.

Overall, I took from this lecture that it better to keep people around you, who you are working for update with your design ideas and where you want to push it, it is useful to receive feedback and see where you can improve or what went well. But also that it is ok to fail, just make sure it is earlier rather than later. AND make sure your work is fun and you are engaged with it, give yourself 'play time' and experiment with something different.
